North Carolina House Majority Leader John Bell (District 10 – Wayne, Johnson, Greene) announced Tuesday that he has successfully secured several critical investments and grants in the state budget compromise for the citizens of District 10 in Eastern North Carolina.
The $24 billion budget compromise, which was released Tuesday, is expected to be approved and sent to the Governor by the end of the week. Overall, the budget further invests in education, increases teacher and state employee salaries, funds a new statewide school construction initiative and allocates disaster recovery resources.
“This is a great budget, especially for Eastern North Carolina” said Rep. John Bell. “I am very proud to have fought for and secured significant budget funding for our area. These resources will be critical to helping improve jobs, economic development and the well-being of our communities.
“In addition, the budget restores funding for Vidant and fully funds the construction of a new Brody School of Medicine building at ECU. However, these key investments are dependent on the Governor signing the budget or enough Democrats joining us in overriding his veto. I encourage our local citizens to urge their Governor and representatives to support the budget.”

- $10,000 for the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Special Olympics
- $100,000 for Wayne Community College Capital Needs Projects
- $15,000 for the United Wayne of Wayne County
- $1.5 Million for the Town of Mount Olive in Union With the University of Mount Olive
- $20,000 for an Economic Development Grant to the Town of Pikeville
- $75,000 for the Wayne County Development Alliance
- $450,000 for a Town of Fremont Infrastructure Project
- $21,500 for Parks and Recreation Grant to the Town of Mount Olive
- $25,000 to the NC Troopers Association Cassion Unit
- $5.5 Million to the Mount Olive Waste Water Treatment Fixation
- $25,000 to the Goldsboro Family YMCA
- $150,000 to the Carver High School Alumni and Friends
- $10,000 to the Wayne County Habitat for Humanity
- $10,000 to the USCT 135th Research Team
