Raleigh, NC – The NC Chamber has named Majority Leader John Bell (R-Wayne, Johnston, Greene) a 2021 Jobs Champion in its annual How They Voted report for his strong pro-jobs voting record.
This comes as just last week The NC FreeEnterpise Foundation (NCFREE) also recognized Leader Bell with one of its highest rankings in its 2021 Legislative Business Ratings.
“It is an honor to once again be named a Jobs Champion for my strong support of policies that create jobs, support businesses and grow our economy,” said Leader Bell. “Thanks to the hard work of my colleagues, the Republican-led state legislature has advanced a pro-growth agenda that has allowed North Carolina to become one of the best states to live, work, start a business and raise a family. I will continue to fight for these proven policies that expand economic opportunities and improve the lives of all North Carolinians."
NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido said, “The bold leadership displayed by Majority Leader John Bell and other NC Chamber Jobs Champions in 2021 will help our businesses push past lingering uncertainty to fuel opportunity and recovery for millions of North Carolinians. We look forward to continuing to work with Leader Bell in the year ahead to foster renewed growth and success across our communities.”
Representative Bell and Senator Jim Perry (R-Wayne, Lenoir) were also recognized as by the NC Chamber as “House and Senate Flood Mitigation Champions” for their work to secure flood mitigation funding in the state budget. This year’s budget includes language from the Disaster Relief and Mitigation Act of 2021, appropriating nearly $220 million in funding for various flood mitigation and resilience projects. This provision will help North Carolina harden our infrastructure against future flood damage and ensure we are fully prepared to support recovery efforts when damage does occur.
